Tube Amplifier Restoration Tips

Hey all,
I just stumbled upon a Vintage '56 V-M Tri o Matic 560A record player at a thrift shop. Record deck is toast, but the 10W tube amp seems to fire up okay, tubes glow and I can get the pots to make scratching noises, so I am hoping the amp itself is functioning. Now I've never restored a tube amp before so I was hoping I could get some general pointers as far as care of the tubes, typical problem areas, and the best practices for safely restoring the components on somethihng as old as this, etc.
I've got the schems, so rewiring the I/O and re-casing the amp should be a breeze. I'm well aware of the safety precautions for working on tube gear.I just need a little guidance as far as component restoration, proper bring-up procedures etc. Any tips or advice appreciated.

Thanks!!

First off change out the two wire AC cord for a three wire grounded cord. Put the incoming hot lead to the fuse and power switch.
