Hi,

I changed the EL84 tube in my Universal Audio LA-610 MKII and I need to make sure it's properly biased. I don't have an oscilloscope or tone generator. I'm wondering if I should use plugin versions of these tools, and loop the ins and outs of the pre-amp through my Apogee Ensemble? I don't really want to pay a tech to turn a screw, when I could do it myself. Universal Audio has detailed instructions on their blog, but I'm wondering if a lack of real electrician tools will make this a futile effort?
