Invert right channel = stereo to mono balanced?

I want to use the headphone (stereo line out) of my digiface to send a balanced line to my re-amp box.
As far as I can make out.

Stereo
tip-left
ring-right
sleeve-ground

Balanced
tip-hot
ring-negative
sleeve-ground

So if I send the di track to a stereo bus and invert the phase of the right channel,
Will the headphone stereo out be essentially sending a mono balanced signal to the re-amp box?
Seems to make sense and it certainly sounds right (in theory and it does sound right through the amp)
Thanks in advance>

Cheers John.

I presumed it was right but wanted to make sure.
I googled but nothing came up.
I wonder how many people out there don't know about this and could use an extra balanced out!

Hi
Yes it works and you won't 'hurt' anything, but it is not a particularly well balanced out unless the 'hot' and 'cold' are exactly the same level (opposite phases though).
Useful dodge though!
