Chandler LTD-1 1073 transformer experiment

Tonight, we´re gonna take the Carnhill transformers out of the Chandler LTD-1 and replace them with vintage Marinair`s to see what differences there might be!

This Chandler has Neve 1073 cards installed from factory, I think all the early one did (if there´s any modification to these I dont know)

We did some recordings at different gain settings on snare, acc guitar... before, so now its switch time and then some recording again.

Im posting the results later on if anyone is interested.

A quick sample for now, a snare with Md421 Telefunken, first in this example the Chandler LTD-1 with Carnhill, then the Marinairs! -40 db, no eq

1: API 512c
1: chandler ltd-1 original
2: neve 1073LB
3: Chandler with Marinairs transformers (same unit as example 1 but with original transformers)
4: Vintage Neve 1073
5: Telefunken V76

Its not easy to spot any difference but... I put the preamps with less bottom first.

The original Chandler LTD sounds almost identical to the Neve 1073LB, then third example the chandler with marinairs got little more lows and highs, the mid is somewhat rejected, the fourth example with original vintage Neve 1073 its even more low and highs, doesnt sound cleaner but more open and a little more distorted with the marinairs I think.

I dont now, the last one V76 sounds pretty nice

What you guys think?
