| Gear interested | Budget A/D D/A
I'm weighing my options when it comes to A/D and D/A conversion, and thinking about saving cost by purchasing a relatively cheap A/D converter that will convert 8 channels of audio to an ADAT output, then improving the conversion quality by locking it to a high quality clock. (i.e. Behringer Ultragain 8000 Pro [bypassing the IMP Pres] clocked to an Apogee Mini Me...) Are there any cheap A/D options out there with decent circuitry/converters that might be good for such an endeavor? Is it even worth thinking about? |

| You'd be better off, generally, using the money you save by not buying the Mini-Me on a better converter. It's not just the clock that matters, it's the clock distribution. You can't change the clock distribution inside the ADC. -tINY |
