Repurpose Preamps from VS-2480?

I was wonder in I could just take parts from the recorder such as the preamps and outputs and build my own 16 channel mixer or standalone preamp using the preamps from the Roland VS-2480? I've been having issues with it, it's old and the buttons are starting to not function. If I cannot get it back in workin order, I would love to just repurpose the parts! Any ideas?? Thanks!

have you looked inside? I would not be surprised if it´s all SMD on a single PCB.
So taking out circuit parts like micpres is propably very hard if not impossible.

Ah, here are some pictures.

I´d say, if you really cannot fix it, the case is the part easiest to recycle...

Thanks I did not know this site existed! I'm assuming my fix would be to reformat the HD and fresh OS. It seems to be a hardware to software command issue. I opened it up and dusted it, it's physically in great shape but I'm no circuit board enthusiast so I can not say for sure!

So what if they suck? If I could get this thing working for nothing then I can hand it over to a young amateur recording student who would appreciate what it does, less of how it sounds. Any humbled professional would never say something sucked if it just happen to be useful. That's what this thread is about. Preamp shootouts and opinions are a couple doors down!
