| Replace dead VU meter bulbs with LEDs? I own a Mackie 8-bus with a 24 channel expander and meter bridges on both. It’s basically my glorified monitoring console as I do the majority of my mixing ITB. I’ve replaced the bulbs on the VU meters 3 or 4 times so far and have even gone as far as to replace the entire VU meter assembly once. Still, another bulb burned out yesterday. It got me to wondering if I can replace them with LEDs instead. I remember an article by Eddie Celitti where he was replacing bulbs on some esoteric VU meter with LEDs, so I know it might be possible on the 8-bus. I just need some help figuring out how. I’m not an electrical engineer but am capable and adept with a meter and soldering iron. Anyone willing to offer design assistance? |
