SCSI Floppy Upgrade/ Update with New Media?

I have several bits of older gear with SCSI connectors and/ or internal SCSI floppy drives.

I've come across some threads in another forum regarding replacing SCSI floppy drives with a compact flash reader device.

I'm interested in any info on 'modern media' SCSI replacement devices/ solutions, internal and external, for these tiring floppy drives and fading ZIP devices.

Anything useful out there?

Thanks.

You have to take things on a case by case basis.

To take an example, floppy drives exist in SCSI but my memory says a piece of music gear would rarely have it's floppy drive connected via SCSI. So it's not going to be replaced by a scsi hard drive let alone flash. I guess the key to success is anything new you replace some old i/o device with has to look to your vintage gear just like the original.

Basically start a specific piece of gear then you can websearch if anyone has come up with good modern upgrades/replacement.

I'm probably confabulating. I guess the question should have been does anyone know of a device that has the form factor of a floppy disk drive ... physically so as to bolt into the chassis and as system wise as it 'introduces' itself to the hardware ... but actually reads smart or flash memory cards or ... even better ... a USB stick somehow formatted as a floppy?

Hi
I was looking for an 8 inch floppy drive emulator and found a company in France. It may be the likes of the DIY magazine 'Elektor' may have done such a thing.
Search for drive emulators.

TY ... will do.

[Edit: found this helpful article with some recommendations. Need to see about virtual transfer of floppies back and forth from PC to USB stick. http://jimwarholic.com/2009/04/fdd-f...-emulators.php

Hi
I looked at the datex units from France. As the application was for a SSL automation it would need 2, getting pretty expensive.
Since I believe the 'Program disk' is essentially a 'read only' unit it should be possble to store that onto a small memory card (Eprom even) that is simply 'read' at boot up. This would free up one of the drives and require minimal messing about with the system. I am almost surprised that this doesn't exist yet, perhaps it does?
