If memory serves, your C-50 is similar to the C-30, with one notable difference, the output transformer. The pre section is built around V1, V2, and a V3 driver, followed by a quad of EL 84s in the power stage. It's a class A/B amp so your output section will last a little longer, than the hotter class A, AC30s. A 5751 sounds great in V1 due to its lower gain structure (you want a nice clean signal there), which then hands off to V2 (12AX7A [channel 2 distortion]), followed by V3 (12AX7 driver). You might want to consider a quad of matched Ei EL84s for your power stage, as the Ei pentodes are similar to the NOS 7189, which had a higher plate voltage that tends to run slightly hotter | |
