| balanced cable shield to ground? I come across many balanced cables that have the shield connected to the ground. Is there a reason to do this or not do this. I thought the shield picked up interference and by connecting to the ground one would introduce outside noise. am i right? thanks in advance. |

| Quick explanationis the shield will take the stray RF you're audio would have picked up and sends it to ground. You seem to understand the concept, you just missed the big picture. Your audio is on pin 2 and 3. and ground goes to ..well, ground
