So I need advise guys,
I am a sound editor in TV/Film post, I am currently still running Pro tools 8 (I know, I will upgrade soon) I commute allot so end up editing on the train, my current laptop (Mac book pro intel Dual core 2.5ghz) is broke! but did the job fine.
I am thinking of throwing together a cheap PC system for the train, I have found a Lenovo laptop on offer for about £400, but has an AMD quad core 1.5ghz and a handy esata connection.

Any idea what the performance would be like compare with my old MBP Dual core. Is it compatible with PT8/10.

Or am I an idiot for looking at old processors and hold out for an i5 with only 2 cores?
Would the I benefit from the 4 cores or suffer a performance reduction???
