The thing didn't "just break".

(sounds like a marginal capsule or a dielectric break-down = keep it warm and dry for a few days and see what happens)

we recorded my band live...........all of us together in the room, playing at the same time, kind of like a little pre production thing.....the atm 25 was infront of the guitar cab.........do you think we might have played too loud?

I always thought this mic can take very high spl levels.............

thanks for your replie

If you didn't perforate you eardrum, the mic wasn't killed by anything being too loud that day. Dropping the mic will put a lot more force on the capsule than anything you can generate with a guitar cabinet.

ok...the mic wasn`t dropped, i just did not put it right back into its case after recording, it basically stayed on the micstand for the following 2-3 rehearsals..........

............to clarify whats wrong with the mic:

i wanted to record my 18" tom and evern though i got a sound out of the mic there was this "crakling" going on.....i checked the cable......................cable's working fine.

i might just take the mic home with me to ensure a "dry air" surrounding.....

thanks for your replie.......any other ideas?
