Thread Starter | Low freq noise - Tape machines
Hey there, So my Revox A77 (XLR ins and outs) is starting to get a little noise over the years and has become unusable for critical work.. I want to change that. problem #1 I get these occasional pops up to -50dB (every ca 20 sec irregularly). They occur in both channels and are between 20-300 HZ problem #2 When reusing tape i get a bit of muffled (lf) bleed at around -70db from the last recording. Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks Joel |

Has the unit been recapped? Has the headstack been relapped? Has it been properly demagged and aligned? Biased properly? Erase current adjusted for maximum erasure? Best, Tom |

sounds like a cap discharging. Get a bulk tape eraser. The big platter kind, not the one that looks like a Chinese iron.
