Strapped pentode, triode submini tube in a mic

Hi guys,
I'm looking for some info on using pentode submini tubes as triodes.

I currently use a russian 6c31b-p triode valve in a plate follower circuit and am looking to change it to a mullard CV465 a military spec tube rather like a 5840. My question is regarding 'strapping' the tube to make it work in a strapped triode configuration.

The current tube only has five legs although it looks as though there are some unused legs which have been cut short. For a triode i need the control grid (pin 1 on the CV465), the two heater connections (pins 2 and 6) and the anode (pin 5). The strapping takes place between the screen grid and the anode but i am uncertain as to the effect this might have on the circuit. Will it double the anode voltage? And if it does what value of resistor is recommended?
Is there any benefit to 'strapping' the tube or should i just wire it up normally as a triode? The heater voltage and other specs are similar so it should be a simple subsititution.
Also the legs on the tubes aren't numbered. I am assuming that they are numbered 1 to 8 from left to right clockwise around the base, with 1 being to the left of the gap at the bottom. Would that be correct?

thanks in advance for any info or advice.

cheers

jack
