Resistor Brand Question?

Hi,

Does anyone know the difference between Vishay/BC Component and Vishay/Dale brand?

I'm trying to source Dale 10k 0.6w 1% metal film resistors for my mic mod but Digikeys only has Vishay/BC component brand. Are these the same as Vishay/Dale brand?

Thanks!!

Dale is a division of the huge multi-national Vishay Components Group.

As such, the group manufactures several brands and types.

The Dale brand is made in a Mexico malaquidora plant, the Vishays are Asian.

The main differences are construction. The Dales are a non-ferris construction, no iron is used. They have non-ferris end caps for termination.
The rest are ferric. Test them with a magnet, if they stick, not good for audio.

Use the CMF60 series for 1/2 watt.

Thank you so much Jim!!

When I search for dale cfm60 10k on Digikeys, I get several returns with all 10k 1/2watt 1% values.

One difference I notice is Temperature Coefficients. So is it better if Temperature Coefficient is bigger. Eg 50 ppm/c verses 100 ppm/c.

Also is it better to order the "reel" type packaging rather than "bulk"?

Thanks once again!!!

I'm not sure if Digi Key sells the CMF60's, Mouser does. Get the 50 ppm versions. Tape means you have to pull them off a reel, a reel PITA. Then you get sticky goo on the ends of the leads. Buy them bulk from Mouser.

If you want better, the Vishay bulk foil S-102's are excellent at .01% tolerance and 2 PPM. I have some in my console, converters and mic preamps, they are the absolute best. Well, they do have better versions too and a super surface mount version, but those are really expensive.
