Changing a pot in Peavey Valveking Head

I have basic soldering skills, just curious if anyone has ever replaced pots in a Peavey Valveking 100 Watt Head before....? is it something simple? or should I take it to a tech to have it done...they want $80-$100....if the circuit board needs to come out....? Can anyone confirm that?

Circuit board fitting pots cost about $2. I don't know how hard it is to access. If doing yourself, be really careful de-soldering so you don't ruin the pcb. Buy the nicest de-soldering braid you can find, not the stuff from radio shack
Make sure to discharge the large capacitors!! If unsure, strum the guitar while you unplug the amp and keep strumming, I believe that will drain a little and then just let it sit for a week or so. But check to see if there's any residual voltage first. Being a newer amp it may have bleeder resistors, but I don't know. If you're unsure at all about doing that or testing for voltage maybe take it to someone.
Did you break the pots; why do they need changing? Make sure to get an exact value replacement.

Lastly, I am by noooo means a professional!!!!

However, since no one has commented on my good news section post, i'll say I've started an apprenticeship for a stellar guitar amp repair/ build tech.

If you want to come out to Athens GA. and get it fixed I doubt you would be charged $80

What kind of turnaround are you going to have if you wait a week or more for the amp to discharge?

Here's a great video explaining how to do it and dispelling that strumming myth you suggested above.

Haha cool
That was just my recommendation if someone was worried. I discharge them with a resistor and or multimeter. I'll check out the link thanks.

Yeah the pot is broken..well it's loose and it causes shorts in the signal...so I'm not sure..I know I need to replace the pot....I also know the input jacks need to be replaced as well...
