Thread Starter | MOTU mk3 896 Hybrid Clock issue?
I just purchased two Motu 896mk3 hybrids (one in June of 2011 and the other was purchased this month), and have them daisy chained using Firwire and word clock cables just as the user manual suggested. Basically the second motu's channel's lights randomly peek. This happens regardless of sound running or not. I believe i've connected everything properly and configured the Motu General settings according to the user manual. As far as each individual Motu's settings I disabled all Optical (ADAT, TOSLINK). This was the only way Protools would launch btw. Does it matter that one Motu has the Firmware 1.01 and the other has Firmware 1.0? I will be reversing the connection and slaving the older motu to the newer one and and see if it still happens. I'm also going to try the newer motu as a stand alone when i get home from work today. Any other suggestions? I've already emailed Motu and Sweetwater support and waiting on a response, just thought i'd try this forum as well. Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong. Thank you. |

Thread Starter | Motu Mk3 896 Hybrid Clock issue?
Wow! 95 views. Well I ran the second motu by itself and the channels weren't peaking. I tried it without the firewire but then only one motu will show up in the motu settings window so i know I actually do need Word Clock cable and Firewire connected. I think I may have fixed the issue though by changing the Motu settings again. On the Macbook pro i made the 1st motu's use "Motu Mk3 Hybrid Internal" and i set the second motu to just "Word Clock" instead of "Mk3 Hybrid 1" and on my PC i set the 1st motu to "Mk3 Hybrid #1 Internal" and set the second one to "Mk3 Hybrid #2 Word Clock" instead of "Master Clock Source". This seems to have fixed the issue. (I hope). here is a video of what i was talking about. VIDEO0036.3gp - YouTube |
