true mono monitoring

this is a simple question. we're running the Wunder Audio Wunderbar...

I want to set up say 'output b' to a mono single speaker. i don't believe that the mono button is 100% true mono.

do i just build a Y-cable and take it out of that output, or is there something i need to build with any kind of resistor, or anything to run the stereo signal output to, and then the mono output to my single speaker.

thanks!

There are plenty of threads here which will tell you how to make mono, but I'd be tempted to check your theory first. take a piece of music (or some broadband noise - the idea being to use a full range signal) and duplicate ONE channel (L or R - doesn't matter) on a pair of tracks. pan one channel L, one channel R. flip one of the tracks out of phase, push your mono button and see if the signal disappears. if it does, you have true mono, if it doesn't, you have good ears. be advised - if you're doing phase reversal with software, there may be latency which will mess with the test. Print the out of phase channel, use a channel switch, or a phase reverse adaptor - or double check for offsets before proving anything.
