A call to any Soundtracs Topaz users!

Hi all!

I am restauring my trusty Soundtracs Topaz (Miami Vice version)

Simple question:

I need to know wich wire of the power cable goes to wich pin of the XLR 4 pin.

I have those 4 wires:

- Brown
- Blue
- Black
- Green with a yellow line

Can anyone just unscrew the strain relief of your XLR plug and tell me wich wire goes to pin 1,2,3,4?

Thanks a lot for this help!

Hi
Is the cable hard wired from the desk or supply or is there another XLR at the 'other end'?
If so they would be wired pin 1-1,2-2,3-3,4-4.

It is the hard wire cable from the transfo box. No other XLR cable at the other end.

I know the PSU is inside!

Thanks!

The transformer box is just that - sending 2 separate AC supplies to the mixer, which houses the rectifiers, smoothing and regulators to produce the +17 0 -17 and +48 volt rails.

It should be easy to work out how everything connects - firstly test towards the transformer with a multimeter on a low ohms range - and find the 2 separate windings. These will be very low resistance.

Then you will need to go inside the mixer and trace the wires from the panel XLR connector to the power supply board and work out how the 4 wires connect to the 2 bridge rectifiers.

Job done!

Ok thanks!

But it would be much simplier if someone that owns a Topaz would just check and tell me wich wire goes to wich pin.

I have the PSU drawing in paper form - but cannot access it at the moment - but I am reasonably sure that the cable colour codes are not mentioned, so you are going to have to buzz it out as suggested......
