AMS NEVE 1084 - where is the best place to get these repaired in Canada/USA?

I have an AMS NEVE 1084 module that will not pass singal through the mic or line sections. I have tested it with other cables and in another power supply and it is defintiely the module which is the problem. Since this module is like new cosmetically and has never left the extremely well tempered and smoke free studio it lives in, I think it may be something rather simple, maybe even something that was not quite right with it when it was manufactured. Maybe a bad component or something?

I hear that sending anything to AMS NEVE can take a long while for repair. The idea of sending it on a plane in the cold storage hold over to the UK and back doesn't sound like a wise choice either.

Is there anyone in Canada or even North America that is an official certified repair technician for AMS NEVE and has their own AMS NEVE parts and lots of reputable experience?

Any information or recommendations would be really appreciated.

Also, how long is AMS NEVE's warranty good for. I bought this in 2009?

Thank you!

In Ontario, Canada I would STRONGLY recommend James Rowell in Guelph.
He has a significant stock of components, has several years of experience, and I have dealt with him on a few vintage WBS issues and other pro-audio issues. He is meticulous, careful, goes the extra distance to obtain vintage components - or acceptable current production components. He will test the ESR of all capacitors, check the transistors, etc.. individually. Not just replace a blown component and leave it there. He will trace from the defective component right back to where the voltage or signal path starts.

If interested please PM me, and I will introduce you.

He is very affordable, mannerly and very well educated.

Hi Bob,
I'm in Toronto. I have a pair of AMS-Neve 1081 Classics on the bench right now and just finished a pair of original 1073's last week. Feel free to give me a shout.
Best,
Ike

Neve EQ amd Mic Pre repairs

I do repair and restoration of vintage Neve Mic Preamps and Eq's. I can also offer help to you DIY guys who are having some issues with your build. Everything from consultation to troubleshooting, repair to full assembly. My bench rate is $50 per hour but I generally like to set a flat rate for these services so everyone will be happy!

Thanks

We were able to fully service Mr. Bob Guido's AMS-Neve 1084 for him.

He was very pleased to be able to get professional service locally using correct parts and industry standard Audio Precision and Fluke test equipment.

We did the service in this case while Bob waited, as we generally have any needed Neve part in stock. Along with a vast stock of other NOS and rare parts.

We provide high end restoration level service to vintage and new classic Neve equipment, UREI and UA gear, any other recording gear, tube guitar amps and electronic instruments.

We are big fans of working on Canadian made equipment. All Ward-Beck and McCurdy AU-300 a specialty.

Located in Kitchener, Ontario we have very easy access from the 401 highway.

As quick as driving downtown Toronto, avoid the traffic.
