Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 has no connection to a PC/Mac after a week of well work

Saffire 56 worked fine about first expluatation week. Testing playback and recording at ordinary houseroom before taking device to the studio.
I used it parallel with avid Mbox Pro. Through a single PCI-1394 (via6306). Windows 7 x64 and Mac OS Lion.

One day Saffire simply dissapeared from the system (windows 7). Probably ONCE i plugged it in while it was \"on\" (but as i remember it was even MBox, not Saffire). Ok, when it dissapeared and didn\'t want to work again I swithced both devices to a Mac. They worked just fine, even through single firewire port. I plugged MBox after Saffire, 1 by 1, and fine.

Then after 5 days of not using, devices turned off. I plugging it to PC, with TWO different 1394 busses (pci and pci-e). There was problems with both devices, but then Mbox worked fine again. I\'ve tryed different ports, busses (via 6306, via 6315), cables, legacy and ordinary drivers, turning everything unwanted off. But not any success.

Ok, I switched it to a Mac again. And IT DOESN\'T WORK on a mac too.

PC: Intel i5 2,67 GHz (4 cores), mainboard MSI P55-CD53. 8 gb ram (Samsung).

So what can i do to connect saffire to my computers again?

Short video of it:

Do you have the latest version of the Mix Control software on both systems?
Do you have the Mix Control software opened up before you power on the LS56?

yeah

heya

my 24 does that every once in a while

try installing old drivers - windows -
( i would say 2.2 ish )

i think it is just a driver problem - i get the same thing.

okay for my system it goes like this -

mysteriously drops out - ( i.e. wake up in morning to no tunes .. )
i then uninstall the drivers v2.4 beta
i install drivers v2.2 beta
it works -
uninstall 2.2
reinstall 2.4

something like that.

Mine acted a bit weird...turned out to be the firewire cable.

Still, XP loses track of my L56 every once in a while. I've got to shut the whole setup down & then start the L56, then boot the computer so it can find it again. And sometimes it's the other way around...I guess it depends on how it's feeling that day. It's always ran fine on the mac at work though.

Best of luck

It was the faulty Saffire 56. I just gave it to a sound repair service. They replaced FW chips for 110$ (TI). Chips are much better than original. Work with all versions of 1394 drivers, not only legacy. More stable, more flexible.
