Thread Starter | Levels? Synth and guitar circuits...
I need some help figuring out some stuff. I am a high school student - looking to get into electrical engineering, maybe audio. But I'm trying to put together some audio circuits, maybe synth and some guitar pedal circuits. But I'm confused about the levels. Like, if there is a synthesizer (oscillator) circuit that specifies an 8 ohm speaker, how would I replace that with a line level output?Or how would I change a guitar output to a line output? Or how would I combine a line level source and a "guitar level" source to go into a guitar amp? I guess my question is - can you point me to some articles or explain how to "levels" work when designing circuits? I'm very confused. Thanks, Tristan |

| Understanding standard hi-fi amps is a good first step. The amplifier may not even make the voltage higher on the output than it is on the input at lower volumes, but you have current gain. This is because the impedance of the speakers is 8 ohms instead of around 10,000 ohms like the input to most amplifiers. Look here: ESP Amplifier Basics - How Audio Amps Work -tINY |
