Thread Starter | need advice. running stereo amp with one speaker
hi I have a crown D-75A and I just bought an auratone 5c I read the crown manual and it says I have to go to a service center to modify the amp for bridge mode. I think I will be good just running the auratone from the one channel of the crown. What will be the best way to hook this up? I run unbalanced cables to the amp. Is better to just solder the + to + and ground to ground from stereo to one mono plug , then feed one channel on the crown (leaving one channel with volume down) and then connect the auratone to the one output? here is he crown manual http://www.crownaudio.com/pdf/amps/125243.pdf thanks |

check out the Rane website or do a search here for guidance on making mono from your stereo unbalanced connections - the short version is that you need to make a passive mixer, and can't simply Y the connection. Then use the diagram in the crown manual, or the more comprehensive guide on the Rane site to terminate your connector - you're correct if you're using a 1/4" connector, and correct about the rest of the scenario. Your auratone didn't want to see all that bridge voltage anyway....

thanks. Am I better off pushing the mono button on the central station monitor controller, I guess L and R then will come out as two mono mixes. What do you usually do when using auratones in mono ? thanks again
