Boss Volume Pedal Noisy

I bought a Boss FV-500L stereo volume pedal for our church. We are currently using a Behringer powered volume pedal for our Yamaha P-120 but I wanted a passive pedal with a better minimum volume control and better quality sound, but this new Boss pedal has tons of noise and is very scratchy when the pedal is push down or up. Is there a known solution for this?

Thanks.

Well, I don't know what is causing the problem, and I don't know the signal chain. But, it seems that the BOSS FV-500L has been getting good reviews online, and the problems you've described aren't what I'd expect from a new unit.

Perhaps at church there will be people who can help you to check your pedal using different keyboards, cables, and/or amps, eliminating some suspects.

The manufacturer should have people capable of providing technical support, if you can reach them.

Can you try the pedal at the store you bought it at, or return it?

If it's within warranty, simply send it back.

However to me this all sounds like a dirty pot - either clean or replace the potentiometer and you should be back in business.

Thanks for the quick feedback. I forgot that I tried it with my passive bass guitar and had no issues at all. I guess I need to trouble shoot with another keyboard or change things in the setup up. I hadn't thought of contacting the manufacturer either so I can try that too.
