Thread Starter | Advice on finding a 10v adaptor?
Hello, I have strange request for some advice from technically capable people. I have an old Akai S20 sampler which I really like the sound of. Unfortunately a considerate friend managed to lose the original PSU for it a couple of years ago and it's been dormant ever since. I've contacted Akai/Numark who were unable to help, and periodically I search ebay for a PSU but to no avail. I am now wondering if it is possible to find a generic power supply for it. I have done a few hours research and what I require is: output 10v - 800ma or 850ma - center positive Now apparently the original Super Nintendo (SNES) had a similar PSU according to people over at the Akai MPC Forum but I cannot verify this. I have searched google using 'bold' spec above and have been unable to find a suitable transformer. Would any of you know what to do, surely it must be possible to find one? Thanks in advance, Iwan PS: I am in the UK

DC ? or AC? if its DC? and its a wall wart then just go to argos and buy one with a voltage switch on it changeable connectors, there reversible to allow center negative or positive, and different sizes. |

If you finally can not find a power supply, then consider building one from a kit. There are plenty around the globe. Here's an example from Maplin: K18231A Power Supply : Miscellaneous Kits : Maplin You could power it with, say, a 12VAC plug pack. Good luck. Paul |

Hello, It's DC. I can't seem to find a switching PSU which has a 10v "stop" on it. |

Would Akai be willing to give you a schematic? 10V is a bit rare, 9V and 12V is more common. One of those might be suitable depending on what is inside the sampler.

Check from some AC/DC for very old motorola's cellphone. Motorota startac (older versions) on ebay or radioshack, beware before buy because was a jungle of models/mA/volts. |

Sorry for the resurrection, but apparently a US Sega Game Gear power adapter works perfectly. 850mA, 10V DC, center positive. EDIT: This should work quite well, too. http://www.amazon.com/Super-Nintendo.../dp/B000SOTPYK Also for use in EU, just get a travel adapter. |
