Source for NE553N IC's

Hi all,
I'm looking for a source of a small number of these chips (around 10) to fix some old German EQ modules. I can't seem to find anywhere that actually has them, as all of the 'discontinued chip' sellers either don't reply to my email, or will only sell in much larger quantities (over 100).

Any leads?

If you have an electronics surpplus store near you call and ask them if they have it or the equivalent. Companys like silvana will make equivialnt of op amps and ics or fets that are all they same spec just a different brand and if they don't have it the guys that work in those places know there stuff and will be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks guys,

I've got a few quotes, but they have been minimum 20 pieces at $15 each! Seems a bit exorbitant to me. I'll have a look for the 5543an

Hi
There seems rto be a bit of confusion over device number, do you really want NE553N?
If you do, and it is not a typing error, try to find the datasheet for it and compare with other devices. Alternatively if you have the module schemtic, work out what will 'fit'.

I pulled an old (I mean really old) Signetics data book and cannot find that a NE553 part even exists. The OP must be looking for a NE553x part.

It's quite apparent that he meant NE5534. The only other thing it could have been close to is a tone decoder or a phase locked-loop or something like that, maybe a frequency mixer like the old NE602. None of which could be used in an equalizer circuit, I think.

I've got some faulty IC's in an EQ, which are NE553N IC's. I can't tell you what their function is, but I can tell you they are heavily used in this EQ (from memory 5 in each EQ). Each one seems to relate to a frequency band, as when broken/removed, that frequency no longer works.

There are some common opamps ne5532 dual and ne5534 single You EQ is probably using one of those two.

Really? Are you absolutely certain that they are 553? not 5534N? I'm gonna have to go look in my D.A.T.A.B.O.O.K.s
Or do some real detective work on the internet...

How many pins do these chips have? There is a such thing as an NE5533, which is a dual NE5534 in a 14 pin DIP package. See NE5553 datasheet, ne5553 series data sheet,
Best,
Ike
