hey! i have an old phillips tube amp from australia.
i started a link here:
phillips tube amp advice/repair
as was suggest, the power supply was the problem, my tech is replacing it and removing a few things that don't need to be there also.
this link may help with schematics:
Amplifiers with valves.
look forward to hearing how yours sounds, i'll report back when i get mine back into the studio.
cheers, jeremy

hi jeremy ,
thanks for the links !
mine only had 6 or 7 caps to be changed ,
(including all the ones on the PSU)
and some dust ,
i hope you´ll get yours without hum when it´s back ,
looking at the PSU seems logical ...

yeaaah great !
thanks a lot lot lot ,
such a nice idea to post it here !

mine has a strange behavior :
no sound at all when i plug the OUTPUT ,
but when only the microphone is plugged in ,
VU 's reacting nicely .
as soon as i plug the Output ,
there's no sound and the VU completely stops reacting ...

so ,
thanks a lot for the schematics !!!!!!!!

i'll try to find out ...

You get no output because there is no tape recorder connected !!
This amplifier is part of a quite old portable Philips tape recorder unit, also having been available in a stereo set (yes: TWO of these amps were used then..).
The VU meter is showing the input signal.
