Thread Starter | how do you know what tube to get for U99 replacement...
I know I just can't throw in any tube into the mic, so I would like to know how do you go about knowing what tube to get for the U99, the original black version. What do I have to look for in the specs of the tube to make sure it is compatible. What tube works and what model number of teh tube for a more smoother warmer sound and still big. What different sound have they gotten from their U99 using different tubes. I know it's been asked before, but I would like to know if anything else has changed or anything new with different tubes used. Ive also noticed some type of pop or glitch on certain passages when I record through it. Like a digital glitch or click (like a clocking digital click) and it's definitely from the Mic, because I record anything else on a different mic and it never happens. Could that be from the tube because it is about to go? How long are these tubes meant to last for in a mic? anyone have any instructions on how to replace the tube on the U99.
