Crossing wires question

Hi - this may be a dumb question, but nonetheless I will ask it. If I am soldering a DB25 connector to a cable that will be connected to the analog DB25 output of my soundcard and by any chance any of the wires (pin 1, 2 and/or 3) happen to short (touch each other), other than signal issue, could this cause any harm to the converter? Basically if the ground of one channel contacts the ground, hot or cold of another or any combination thereof.

Thanks a bunch...

If you short output cables to each other or to ground, there is a risk that this can cause some damage.

So it could cause damage to the converter. Could you please elaborate?

If the output line is not current limited, a short circuit to ground, or to another not-current limited output could cause the driver(s) to burn out.

If the unit had a strong output with a low wattage, low value build out resistor, that resistor could be burned up from prolonged driving into a short to ground.

Well designed gear, should anticipate this... in a perfect world.

You probably need to check with the manufacturer if a low production volume product. Mass market products figure this out early, or never become mass market.

Thanks. It's a Lynx Aurora 16 which is feeding a passive summing box I built (just a 10k resistor for each channel, summing 4 stereo busses (8 channels) to a stereo output)

I will check with Lynx. The problem is no longer there and never was, but I am trying to learn more...

This is what Lynx stated as well.
This raises a of question:

1.I built a passive summing box using 10k resistors at each input hot and cold. I plan on always having all 8 inputs connected. How do I verify that the 10k resistors are enough?

Thanks,
