Thread Starter | what is that sound in 'my friend of misery' by metallica okay, my first question. any idea on to get that guitar sound in the first solo in metallica's 'my friend of misery' it sounds like mega man and it starts around 4.18 YouTube - Metallica (The Black Album) - My Friend of Misery (1991). is it a weird piece of equipment? pretty much i just want to know how i can emulate that sound? i got guitar rig pro and line 6 podx3 so i got a variety of sub par effects and amps. also, any one know what kind of harmony that is, minor 3rd maybe? |

| Probably it's an Eventide Harmonizer, like the H3000. I think you can get the "core" of the effect just using any harmonizer. ![]() |

| It's basically a direct feed off a guitar preamp's line output (judging by the ratty-ness of the distortion), with no mics or cabinets and either double tracked for harmony or they used an Eventide or some such thing. Sounds like minor thirds to me. You can get it by turning off the cab/mic sim in your Guitar Rig plugin and then double track the harmony section. |
