| Lives for gear | Best way to interface DBX 163X's with studio
I have a pair of DBX 163X's that I modified and would like to integrate into the studio, but I'm having a hard time deciding what the best way to do so would be. The 163X's have unbalanced inputs and outputs, while everything else in the studio is balanced. They way we have the patch bay wired up now out of Pro Tools, into the patch bay, to the console (Soundcraft Ghost). The inserts on the Ghost are unbalanced, so we opted not to use them. I think my best option is to normal the DBX 163X's to a pair of channels on the console using the inserts. What are some alternatives? I'd like to be able to put them in the patch bay, but I don't want to install additional transformers to balanced them. |
