Op Amp Testing Rig

Hi there, I am looking to buy an op-amp testing rig for dual and quad op-amps. I've seen a tech using one that he had built himself but lost contact with the guy and was wondering if any techs out there are building and selling them.
Thanks in advance,

Jay.

Performing meaningful tests would be pretty tough because to do it right many parameters need to be checked, some of which require sophisticated, sensitive measurements. I'm not sure how useful a DIY device would be.

Maybe what your friend used was just a jig that powered up IC's and interfaced the inputs and outputs to other test gear?

Hi there
What do you want to test the op amps for? Basic functionality or to actually measure some parameters?
Basic functionality is easy enough, perhaps making the device under test flash a led or something. Look on google for something like 'flasher circuits' or something.
If you want to measure performance parameters you are into a whole new ballgame.

What type of Op amps are you wanting to check? 8pin DIL?
I agree with other posts in it may not tell you much, if you dont know exacly what your looking at. I made a test jig for 2520 op amps, mainly looking at idle current and noise.

Hi Guys,

thanks for the replies.
I was hoping to be able to test funcionality. The rig I once used from this guy I knew was nice because it was hooked to a scope and I could see if the op-amp was working as well as its noise ratio.
My main interest is to be able to test for functionality and noise if possible.
5534's 4741 and 4605 are the op-amps that I use the most.

Thanks again,

Jay

Hi

Do you have a noise meter with decent filter options to discern the noise in an op amp?

A 'scope won't really show anything but wideband noise but you could use it for relative figures, I suppose.

You also need a pretty quiet power supply... batteries would be better.

You could build it on strip board and screw it to the top of a metal box with RCA connectors (or BNC).
