Aphex 109 EQ, anyone looked inside one?

I was thinking about picking a couple of these up, unless I can find a 9000 series rack with some 9901A's on the cheap. Has anyone messed around inside one before? I find Aphex gear to be underrated, I love the 651 and 661 compressors and the 612 gates. Is the 109 on the low-end of Aphex gear, or with a little tweaking can this be a mighty fine EQ?

Same question here. I have one, I use it occasionally, tho the "toob" gets in the way of what may be a better-sounding eq without it. It adds an odd little edge - almost a sparkle - I have a and old JAN tube in it (forget the brand) which didn't really make a difference. Aphex sent me some info on the thing last year saying it was a "reflection plate" type technology, not a starved plate. You can email them and they'll respond, even tho the unit isn't really supported anymore.

I'd love to know if anyone has modded this to be better - it has tons of potential.

taking a quick look inside, I see WIMA caps, but non-socketed opamps. i know Jim Williams can do a great mod on this - you should ask him.
