Talking Show Me Your Work Bench Thread!!!!!2010

Hey guys.In the fashion of a lot of threads on this forum wanting to see pictures of peoples gear and studios,i would like to start one as well.Only a little different.

I still want to see your gear, just your other gear. The gear you use to make the gear all these people are posting pictures of.I want to see your workstation, see how you like your desk set up,what tools and equipment you have and prefer using, any special tools that you find are indisspensible.Tell me why you choose the tools you use, what makes them great for this kind of work

Any kind of DIY tools or special jigs, that you have made your hold your enclosures while you work,or to hold components together to solder, oscilloscopes, soldering irons, anything at all.

I am really getting into making gear and would like to see all you guys setups.

Thanks
Justin

BUMP!!

Really guys.:(

94 veiws and now 1 technician with a workbench has chimed in:(

Are your workbenches so messy that you are afraid to show everyone?

Are your secret labs so secretive that you are afraid to divulge the inner most workings and the techneiques you use to create your magical creations?

Or are you afraid to let everyone see that you really dont have a workbench and that you just work off of your kitchen table?

Thats OK.Im sure someone will chime in eventually and show me some goodies.

Thanks guys

I'm having heat and another circuit added to my work area (garage) today. I'll post some pics once I have it cleaned up.

Ok I'll bite.

Here is mine. I live in an apartment and I took one room and dedicated it to my office / workshop. I like what I have for the space. The Mackie in the 2nd picture was a pain to work on. I need to remember to charge more when I work on one of those again!

I use a Big bass fishing Plano tackle box.

Meter, soldering iron and tools go in the bottom. Electronic components go in the lure compartments.

My bench is wherever I want it to be. At work, on my home dining room table.

Anywhere.

OK I'll play this is one of my benches. I don't have many pics of the whole area as it's crowded with benches and machines and I take pics of the work as I go but you get the picture.

It's for cutting the dovetail mortice in the end block before the back and top are glued on. It cuts an exact opposite of the tenon jig I use for the neck. This jig and it's other half are in MDF because thats all I had to hand and it was a one off. I normally build them in perspex and or marine ply. They last longer that way.

Once the tenon on the neck is cut with the matching jig on the neck it should go together like this and the top and back can be attached.

Anyhow thats a few pics of my workspace.

Nice little corner, but not looking for studios, looking for work benches where people build gear.

Nice collection of records though. Are you a DJ?Whats up with the paper over the tweeters of the NS10's?

Just do one piece at a time.

Top shelf far left, looks like a big VU meter on the front. What is it?What do you use it for?

Thanks

sorry my bad. I don't have the covers for the 10's so i put a single ply of paper napkin over the tweeter to control the super highs. sounds better to me.

My favorite piece of test gear is my true RMS voltmeter. It's a Radio Shack (don't laugh -- it was OEMd by someone else) which I picked up for under $100 about 12 years ago when true RMS meters were going for around triple the price. It is invaluable for audio measurements.

A picture later. Mine will be the messiest bench hands down.

That's an old HP AC voltmeter on the left sitting on the AP. Also a HP FFT analyzer with green display. Then scope, old Fluke RMS meter, HP frequency counter, and HP wave analyzer.
