Mackie C4 syntax or midi spec?

Nice site - glad to have found my way here...

WOuld be good to see some pictures of some midi gear around.

Midi. what a lovely language. The whole world should speak midi.

Midi is a big part of my life. I deal with it every day and i owned
one of the first ever midi keyboards - so i am not a newcomer.

I have come across a problem with a mackie C4 controller that is very
poorly supported by the company. I have taught myself how to
program the device through the xml syntax and I find myself for the
first time in 25 years on the hex level looking at midi cc's and xml
controller code. familiarization of the syntax for the device can be done in http://www.mackie.com/products/c4com...mmander_PG.pdf
here is a snip.

<Param>
<ParamID>39H</ParamID>
<ParamName>VCF</ParamName>
<Message>b0 4a 00</Message>
<ValueRangeMin>0</ValueRangeMin>
<ValueRangeMax>127</ValueRangeMax>
</Param>

this code will make the potentiometer on the c4 controller control
the synths vco with values from 0 - 127

what i am trying to do is snipe the mackie HUI protocol. i have
sniffed it in midiox and have found cc 72 73 74 are responsible for
the functionality that i require from the pots. BUt the values
dont go from 0 - 127. Infact they remain at 65 while i increase
the pot and 1 when i decrease the pot. This seems to be the default state of the pot - without the commander software.

I wish it was an in out and thru problem. WHere do i plug this midi cable in?
I would like to know - how to code that... i dont know whether it
is a midi bit mask.. a midi function that a cc is assigned "such as
increment and decrement...or whether it is syntax for the mackie control
c4 itself. I am a musician first and foremost.

By the way, if you are using this device... and stienberg sequencers
,you would have heard that it is not supported. I have found a way
to make it work and have many instrument mapping definitions for
popular vsti. its not duplex but its a good work around.
YOu can contact me thru roon-salzman.com for more info on that and a
link to download instrument definitions of many popular vsti that i have done. freeware of course.

please excuse my sinusoidal explanation. .

sincerely.
