Question ATC custom monitor question

hi guys. i'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to be posting but i thought this is where the most technical people hang out. i have an abundance of atc drivers at the moment and am having trouble deciding what arrangement would work best for my needs. I will be using the speakers in fairly nearfield, about 5 or six feet apart with a window between th two. I have a pair of atc 3 way amps as well as four atc 12s, four atc alnico 9s, two atc 3 inch soft domes and 2 audax tweeters (which i'm undecided upon, might get some ribbons).

I am currently thinking of something along the lines of an ATC SCM110 ASL which uses two 9s on either side with the soft domes and audax tweeters. My question is , will they be too big for my room, which is about 4m x 2.5 x 2.5. well treated with large bass traps and LEDE with good diffusion. I need a full range speaker which will be basically sofitt mounted for everything from tracking to mastering.

have seen smaller ATCs with one 12 or even one 9. Obviously a smaller box would be more manageable but will it give me enough bass? Or is two 9s over the top? any opinions would be appreciated.

I'm also considering a closed box design with some help from the atc amp to extend the bass. I'd rather avoid electronic enhancement as i imagine it cause some phase distortion but i've been told there is some way of tweaking the amplifier to go lower. Anybody heard of this?

Also has anybody had experience of alnico ATCs? i believe they stopped in about '78 when alnico became too expensive. I have four 9"s and am on the lookout for an alnico 3" softdome but apparently they only ever made about 2000. also any tweeter recommendations would be great as i' not all that impressed with the audax, even though it's on a special atc baffle.

I've also heard about modifications to the soft dome to reduce distortion. Anyone?

Thanks in advance if anyone has any info.

jack

ATC has used Vifa D27 silk dome tweeters, you might prefer them to Audax.
