| How hard is it to swap out a microphone capsule? U47 type microphone Hello everyone, I am thinking about upgrading one of my U47 clone mics with a M7 capsule instead of the K47 that it comes with. Sounds great. But I really want to hear what the M7 is all about. I know how to solder, do basic electronic stuff, but I am no mic builder. I swapped transformers, capsules, changed tubes, stuff like that.. When looking at the k47 capsule on my Pearlman TM1. Its seems simple and but very fragile to my eye. Few wires and a screw in the center of the capsule. Definitely don't want to touch the membrane of the capsule. I am thinking how hard can this be? To take out the K47 and install a new M7 in place. And screw in the wire in the center of the capsule and solder the other wires in. Could it be that simple or does this require a mic builder and pro? Can anyone here with experience contribute some advice and info. I know someone is going to tell me to not mess with it and send it to a pro. If so, how much does it cost for labor and who would you recommend if this task is only for the pros. Thanks! |
