Thread Starter | Tube mods for DBX 386 and T.Bone STC-2000? I posted this in Low-end as well, but figured I might get more of a response here...sorry for the multiple posting... Hi Guys, I have a DBX 386 and am about to get a T.Bone STC-2000, which I heard is pretty much a copy of the SE 5600. The idea is to replace the tubes of both (2 for the dbx, one for the mic), and from what I've read Mullard tubes are the way to go. The question is, which ones? And also, if I stick mullards in both the dbx and the mic, might that not be too much of a good thing? The character I'm looking for is smooth, warm and velvety as opposed to a more distorted flavour. The other thing I was considering was a mullard in the T.Bone and something else in the preamp...what other tubes give a rich, deep sound? Cheers, Joe
