School for electronics

So I've been hovering around the idea of going back to school for electronics. Not electrical engineering... more or less with electronics and computer engineering emphasis.

Basically I want to be able to build all this absolutely wonderful gear that makes me salivate and spring out of my boots.

Do I need to pay 11 grand for the next 2 years or what?

I have very very little experience with electronics.

Is it worth it? Is it the best route to take?

I have a degree in sound engineering and feel as though I need something more.

Helpful advise anyone??

You might consider a basic circuit analysis course at a local community college. It'll be mostly mathematical, but you'll learn the language of how circuits are evaluated. And, given what community colleges charge, it'll probably give you the most bang for your buck in terms of instruction.

Yeah I agree, community college is probably the best bet. I have a 2 year technical degree that gave me all the basics, and then you can learn more on your own after that.

I ended up going to the University of Hartford for Audio Engineering Technology. As far as I know, it's the only school in the country that has a major dedicated to audio electronics. It was a great education and I got a job designing right out of the gate.

Hi
If it is to possibly get qualifications and a job you need school but if it is for your own satisfaction and interest and you have a job read, read and read some more. Basic electronics books to start with. Build something and blow it up and repair it. Start with battery gear so you will not hurt yourself and progress from there.
