upgrading to a mercury magnetics transformer....

Hi all, I just got my MM output tranny in this morning for my Cobra. Im really excited about the install because I want to either do it myself (with some help from a Full Sail instructor on campus) but I was also wondering if someone here could explain the process so Ill know a little bit better of what to expect before i even go in to ask for some help. I guess I just like to be a little over prepared.

From what Im seeing, it looks like there is a +.-, and a brown wire coming from the MM transformer and 4 more wires on the opposite side. (Im assuming each is tapped into a tube, or to an impedence selector based on something I read in a tube guitar essentials book). So can someone explain to me exactly how this is wired up in case Im way off?

And secondly, I ordered a choke with the tranny too, so any instructions there would be helpful as well. And if you guys have any pictures to go along with it, those always help.

#1] High voltage inside. Make sure you know how to drain this voltage before touching anything.

#2] Get a Cobra schematic so that you're attaching wires to the right spots.

This is a general discription:

#3] The OT's side with 3 wires attaches to the high voltage supply leg (center wire), and the other 2 attach to the complementary output tube plates' load resistors. These must be oriented correctly.

#4] Of the wires on the other side, one will be earth ground and the others probably go to an impedence switch, which feeds the speaker(jack). Again, they must be oriented correctly. Contact Mercury for the proper pinouts.

#5] Be careful !!

This is a typical connection: http://www.schematicheaven.com/ampegamps/v4poweramp.pdf .

Best, Paul
