Help with Melodyne

Hi I'm new to this forum and apologize in advance if this thread is posetd in the wrong place.

I have been using melodyne 3.1.2 UB on leopard with my Mbox 2 pro fine for a while now and recently purchased the 003.

Problem is I cannot get melodyne to recognize my 003 hardware for output source in my preferences. However the weird thing is it recognizes it if I open melodyne first and then pro tools but if I;mworking on a seesion and wish to open melodyne it's just not there to select my 003. Never had this problem with my mbox.

Any ideas?

I just got melodyne two days ago.
I only have uno..
Do you have the plug in version?
Is the 003 the only thing that's changed??

I use uno, so I am not sure. But seems to me 003 would prevent melodyne from accessing the audio driver unless it was rewired, or the plug in version.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. It's the Melodyne cre8 - 3.1.2

I have my 003 hooked up through an optical wire to my Focusrite Platinum Octopre. I have tried setting my clock source to internal as it's usually on Optical but it makes no difference. If I choose to just ave it play back on my built in mac speakers it's just crazy distorted. Also if I try to launch Melodyne as a plugin it just crashes pro tools.

Like I said, If I launch Melodyne first it will recognize my 003 in the hardware prefs but if I try to launch Pro Tools after I get an error saying it's being used by another program.

I'm stumped.

the 003 goes into a different communications mode (pro tools mode) that is not recognized by third pary software when pro tools is running.

the 003 switches into 3rd party mode in firmware when the ASIO driver is not being tied up by pro tools. third party mode allows the interface to be used by non digidesign software. In order for the interface to be switched into 3rd party mode, pro tools program must be shut down.

I don't know how prepriatory digidesign got with its protools, but you should be able to rewire the output of your melodyne to pro tools. Especially if you feed it enough ram

thats why sometimes I miss my Otari and my old Ampex

Ah I see. Bit of a bummer and a hassle. I just installed the melodyne plugin version instead and it seems fine and a bit more simple to get things moving that way instead of using melodyne as a stand alone.

Thanks for the help.
