Art Pro VLA won't work (bypass related?)

Alright i had one of these on indefinite loan and just gave it back. I bought one about 2 years ago to replace that one with and it just sat in the box until this week. I took it out and no sound will pass through it when it is not bypassed.

When i press the bypass button, sound passes and the output levels leds start lighting up again. When i disengage the bypass, the thing goes silent and the leds stop flashing.

Any clue?

Since the signal path is broken when the circuit is IN, it should be a quick answer from ART. Call their service department; they are really nice people and in my eperience with them on three of four instances, will usually try very hard to help you out and keep you satisfied.

To me, it sounds like you a) have a blown or broken tube, b) the input stage, transistor, or amp is blown, or c) some part of the input circuitry is disconnected. Take the cover off and look at the board to see if anything OBVIOUS is wrong. It has been five years since I serviced one of these, but you may note something right away. Don't touch the tube!! You can pick it up with gloves or a lint-free cloth, but don't touch it with a bare hand. You can try swapping tubes from the B circuit; but if you are not used to troubleshooting electronics you may prefer to send it back for service.
