Thread Starter | How would I solder this kind of cable...? My audio interface has 1/4in TRS jacks coming out of it, currently feeding two HR824's directly. I wired my own balanced TRS cables and everything is clean and happy. I want to introduce a sub into the mix -- a Velodyne VX-10. The sub accepts only unbalanced RCA input (one or two, it doesn't matter) So what I want to do is build a mult out of one of those TRS outputs. I'd like one end of the mult to still be TRS balanced, and the other end to be TS unbalanced (which I can then easily convert to RCA via an adapter). The former will feed my balanced speaker, the other will feed the unbalanced sub. How do I build such a cable? Can it be done or am I missing something crucial here? (The expensive way to do it would be to buy a Mackie Big Knob or Presonus Central Station or similar, both of which could do this for me, but I'd rather save the money and wire it myself if it's possible.) |

| Does your audio interface have another output that you can feed mono to? That'd be a lot easier. -tINY |

Thread Starter | Yes, but it's already in use for other stuff. I really need to split this one signal... |

| Easiest thing to do is to tap off the + and the ground and connect it to the RCA plug. Make sure that the tracks are mono below the crossover frequency, though. The mains with no HPF may interact strangely with the Subwoofer. The ports on those Macks are probably tuned to about 40 Hz -tINY |
