Manley slam

On my unit the gain reduction for the fet limiter doesn't work correctly.
When the indicator shows the gain reduction of 1 dB, I'm shure it is allready compressing like 10 dB or so.

I love the sound of the pre and both limiters (espetially the 200 Hz side chain on the opto) , but the fet limiter is quite difficult to use.
When dealing with signals that would need just a touch of fet at the end it is difficult to use it because the fet limeters pot is usefull just somewhere between 5 o'clock and full right.
This is especially difficult without proper metering.

I know but I was wondering if somebody elso had the same problem, because at a friends studio they have the same problem with slam.

I have the same problem. After a while you learn its quirks. The envelope of the FET is now quite easy for me to hear, so I don't bother with the meters, though I wish they were spot on.
