Conductive Plastic

Go to digikey.com

In the search field, type "Bourns 91 series", then select either Rotary Linear or Rotary Log.

There are other series.. 91, 92, 93, 94... etc. the packaging is different for each one.

Oops... I missed that. You're looking for knobs.

I thought I read "conductive plastic rotary pots".

No problem.
It seems to be very hard to get knobs for that.

When you buy knobs, you usually just want to know the shaft size.. and diameter.

The term "conductive plastic" usually refers to the pot's construction, NOT the knob. The other types being "carbon" and wirewound (and there may be some others.)

Are you looking for knobs or fader caps?

Which Euphonics controller?

Knobs for the artist series.
I'm considering the sifam (ssl)-knobs, but then i will lost the touch sensitivity.

Sifam do make knobs, but only made the meters on the SSL... the faders and fader caps are P&G and are conductive in the "ultimation" moving fader automation. The channel strip knobs on an SSL are a standard collet style knob and are not conductive.

On the Euphonics "Artist" series the rotary knobs are not touch sensitive, they are simply rotary encoders, they respond to having their rotational position changed.

You can use any standard knob for those.

Where do you live?

Here are some suppliers:

This is correct. I had originally assumed since the knobs were sort of chrome metallic that they were indeed touch sensitive (like the faders are). But I just tried it out automating pan in a Pro Tools session. Touching does nothing. Only when you move the knob does the value get written.

So no conductive knobs needed.

This is incorrect. The knobs on the MC Mix ARE touch sensitive. The OLEDs normally display the knob parameter name, but when the knobs are touched, but not moved, the current parameter value is displayed.

Which app are you using?

This is true, the knobs on the MC Mix ARE touch sensitive (so I assume the MC Control knobs are too). But I had to put the MC Mix in FLIP mode to verify this.

In Pro Tools, with the knobs assigned to their default, which is PAN, touching them does nothing. The OLED doesn't change to a pan value (probably a HUI limitation).

Only when I put it in FLIP mode will the knob show a value (volume now, since it's flipped) when touched.

In addition, in Pro Tools, when you are mixing, say you have all faders in TOUCH mode and are playing the song. If you touch a fader, the channel automation indicator, which normally reads "Touch" in normal case red, will change to Bold type red. This will not happen if you touch a knob (for instance if you are automating PANs and have volume automation disabled. Touching a pan knob on the MC Mix will not be indicated in Pro Tools with a bold faced "Touch").

In send and Pan automation, you have to move the knob + or - to get any indication that something is happening. This is different from how a touch sensitive fader reacts in Pro Tools. Only in FLIP mode will the knobs act like a touch sensitive fader, showing in the OLED and on Pro Tools channel automation indicators.

It's probably a factor of how Pro Tools sees all this. I think it must only be programmed for touch sensitive faders and motion sensitive controls. The MC's are also hampered I'm sure by having to use the HUI protocol.
