That's what I asked Tannoy's email support, and yesterday i've got the reply from the German "HiFi department" guy. "Maybe a tube preamp (e.g. I've got a McIntosh for my system 15's), but a solution in the same direction would be a CHANGE OF THE SPEAKER CABLES!" ??!?!? He recommended a particular manufacturer (HMSelektronik) who, allegedly, is the ONLY manufacturer of sound shaping cables without side effect.
pardon?!?!???!?
ok, considering the fact that " this solution probably is cheaper than buying a new power amp" (1 x 1,5m for 750 EUR, but I'd need longer cables anyway...), i refused this recommendation and ask the same question HERE.
So, from your experience: what would be the best amp / preamp for monitoring on System 10 DMT II's when I don't want to crank them up all the time? I'm rather looking for a "vivid" bass (though I really like the dryness of the speakers generally). One amp that came to mind (but discontinued) was a Counterpoint (tube/mosfet combo), but maybe even a smart bi-amping solution is thee remedy.
Anyone? (Thanks in advance)
