| SRC specs for different DAW programs i use sonar, but from SRC Comparisons it looks like it rapes your high frequencies somehow. i don't quite get it though. should i switch to nuendo? practically, what does it all mean? or is this all just relevant at mastering ie. record/bounce/mix in sonar ok, but don't dither down using it's internal processor? thanks a bunch. ![]() |

| The sonar graph is flat to about 20kHz and the distortions are at -170dBFS... Good enough for anything. The nuendo 3.0 graphs shows a lack of attenuation at half the final sample rate and above, which again shows up as junk on the 1kHz test, which is the aliasing that is visible as the faded lines on the sweep graph. The nuendo graph is worse than the sonar one in every respect, except for the extent of the frequency response. If you want to make music for bats, keep it at 88 or 96kHz and avoid the 44.1 conversion. :) What it means is that sonar is not bad at SRC'ing. This only comes into play if the SRC routine is actually used. This should be left for mastering. For normal operation, the effect is naught. Dither is used before reducing bit depth, an entirely different issue than sample rate conversion. |
