Yamaha monitor hum

My hs80s have recently contracted a hum in the tweeters..
It's not the cables, nor is it the source that's a problem, it can't be the psu (i've changed cables), and it isn't volume dependant..

Any ideas?!..

It's only there when the speakers themselves are switched on with no signal passing through them, but the "mute" button on my 002R causes clicks when it's pressed [i've never had this]..

{edit; thanks for moving,.. didn't realise this is the best forum for this question!}

I currently use them with a 002R, so i've got the 1/4" outs to XLR...

They didn't have a problem with them before (the cables are 2 weeks old) I just moved my speakers..

I'll try some other cables - thanks for the information!

Update..
Changed the cables...
Double checked the IEC cables.

It's definately the tweeters making the hum / hiss.
I've sent an email to Yamaha, as well as the place I bought them - due to the Festive season I can imagine it'll be a few days before I get a reply.

Any suggestions still welcome.. Similar experiences?

my hs80's do the same. let me know what yamaha says cause i have balanced cables as well and its not huge but it is noticable.. it hasn't stopped me from mixing anything but it is annoying knowing that it shouldn't be there but it is.

Is it hiss or hum? If it's hiss, try turning the input gain on the monitors down. Otherwise, the monitors are just amplifying noise from the CR output of your desk / monitor controller.
best,
Ike
