| krk rp-8 repairs I'm not really sure if anyone can help me or if this is even the right place to ask, but I figure I'd give it a shot. I've got a pair of krk rp-8 monitors and the bass has gone out in one of them. The woofer has not stopped working completely, though, it's just too quiet in relation to the tweeter and the other monitor, especially in the lower end. It seems kind of like an out-of-phase problem, where the bass is getting cancelled out, but the problem is in the speaker and not my setup as I have tried switching cables and speakers and all that. I have opened up both monitors, wiggled on wires, and traded out the backs (the part with the amps) to determine that it is not a problem with any of the drivers. It lookes to be a bi-amped system, so it's gotta be an issue with the amp or the power supply or something. It's hard to tell, but I think that the broken speaker will still put out similar bass volumes as the working one, as long as the input signal/gain are way higher. I've got some basic electronics knowledge and have no problem opening them up and resoldering loose connections or anything. I've got a cheap multimeter, but not much beyond that. Can anyone think of anything that might cause this problem? I'd rather change out a capacitor or something myself then ship it off for an expensive repair. Thanks! |

| Hmmm... Sounds like that could be a couple of things. I handle Tech Supp. for KRK. Give me a call and we'll try to take care of the issue or find the most economical solution... 954-316-1500 x 2237 Tony |
