TL Audio 5051 replacing tubes

Hi all!
I have one of these channel strips which has finally given up after many years almost non-stop operation. I guess it's the ECC83 that have worn out.
Now will it work correctly after I swap the tubes with new ones? I think I'm supposed to recalibrate it.. Any info on this?

Is the unit worth some modification? Opamp swap (all TL074s, SSM 2017) , capacitors...

Thanks for any opinions or experiences!

The 5051 can be modified, with very good results.

See the site of a friend of mine Homepage Ixion

He did teh same mod to his 5051 that I did and placed before and after samples of some bassguitar.
http://home.wanadoo.nl/ixionmusic/music/BeforeMods.mp3 for a bass track before mod and http://home.wanadoo.nl/ixionmusic/music/AfterMods.mp3 for the same bass after the mods.

The quality jump on mic signals (vox) is even more apparent

Hi
Just swap the valve (s) for now and check it works again and worry about any possible recalibration later as it may be that something else has failed. Replacing a valve is similar to swapping a lightbulb. Make sure it is unplugged from the mains before opening the lid.

Thanks for the tips!
I'll try to contact the person who modded it for your friend. Really looking forward for this project!

PM Me if you still are looking for the calibration guide. I had to get it to give to the tech that has mine.

Did you end up with any mods on that strip? Still have it?
